Jeff Eccleston, Vice President of Sponsorship Research International (SRi) was recently recognized with the SportsBusiness Journal's annual Forty Under 40 Award. This honor, initiated in 1999 by Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily, is awarded yearly to the forty most promising young executives in the sports business industry under 40 years of age. Selected by a committee of SportsBusiness Journal editors and writers among hundreds of nominations, Jeff, is the first person in the field of research to ever receive the award. The industry is clearly calling for proof that sponsorship works and as the first researcher in the award's 11 year history, the editors of SBJ have now recognized that a firm can do just that. SRi is a Norwalk, CT based market research firm specializing in the measurement and evaluation of sponsorship and experimental marketing. The award recognizes SRi's leadership in this field and signifies the importance of the role of measurement and statistically valid justification for sponsorship dollars. SRi, through Jeff's longstanding leadership, is on the cutting edge of this field, having developed a suite of tools and techniques which help marketers understand how sponsorship works, what impact sponsorship has and how to assess and quantify return.
